Practice Philosophy
In my practice, treatments are tailored to each individual's needs and preferences, and can incorporate psychotherapy, medications, or both. Because I believe change happens most easily when we don’t feel judged, I aim for a warm and compassionate stance towards the challenges my patients face.
I often incorporate psychotherapy tailored specifically for each patient as part of treatment. I am trained in psychodynamic, supportive, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectic-behavioral psychotherapy. I also focus on the principles of interpersonal psychotherapy, particularly as it applies to the pregnancy and postpartum population.
As a physician, I rigorously inquire about any medical issues that may be affecting a patient and may impact treatment. I also believe mental well-being is closely linked to physical well-being, and therefore, I take a comprehensive approach that includes addressing sleep optimization, stress management, mindfulness, nutrition, and exercise.

An initial evaluation typically requires 2-3 full sessions to complete an assessment and formulate treatment recommendations. At the end of the evaluation, I will provide recommendations for ongoing treatment with me, or a referral to a more specialized or higher level of care when appropriate.
